Is that scale right?

Kellen had his 2 month appointment today - when they put him on the scale my jaw dropped open when it said 14 lbs 5 oz. I couldn't believe he has more than doubled in weight. He went from being in the 36 percentile to the 90%. I guess you just forget how fast they grow. He started to grow his hair back in the front so now it looks like he has a buzz cut. Both the nurse and doctor asked if I cut his hair.

Mekai has been busy with after school programs - she has been doing keyboarding/computer, mad science and soccer. It's so nice that she can walk to and from school - especially with the after school activities. I was thinking I should hold her back a year so she can still go to that school next year. I wonder if she will go for that. The middle school here is 6th-8th grade.

"It's not my fault" is Mekai's favorite phrase - I told her she owes me a dollar every time she says it. In one day she racked up $4.00. So if any of you hear her say it you have my permission to ask her for a dollar. I told her she needs to carry around one dollar bills - Sheldon didn't like that idea.

Yeah Me

Watch out biggest loser. I started a very low calorie - high protein diet on Tuesday. I worked hard all week and didn't cheat once - even with the bowls of Halloween candy in the house. It paid off though - I went on Monday to get weighed and had lost 10 pounds - in 6 days. I know it's a lot of water weight and the fact that I still have the baby weight to lose.

This is a doctor approved diet - on a daily basis I have 3 -4 protein shakes, 1 protein bar and then one meal with chicken and vegetable's and I also take lots of different vitamins, calcium, magnesium and potassium. I didn't work out too much because my body was going through detox and I felt pretty weak - I will definitely get more work outs in next week. Now I just need to get Kellen to take naps that last longer than 30 minutes.

HALLOWEEN

Halloween felt like it lasted for 2 weeks - Mekai had so much going on and she actually was able to wear her costume about 5 times. These are pictures of the Halloween Parade at Mekai's school - I know can you believe it - her school let's the students dress up on Halloween, they have a Halloween Party (not a Harvest Party) and they got to do a parade around the field. We ended up going trick or treating with my brother (Adam) and his family in their neighborhood. The kids got so much candy - I am proud to say I haven't even eating one piece.

Soccer, Soccer, Soccer

Today was Mekai's last soccer game with her team the Robin's. She was asked to play in the All Stars - so she will have at least 3 more games. She is excited about that - she doesn't want the season to end. We were able to attend a couple of Katrina's (cousin) soccer games this weekend as well. Mekai had her soccer party at Roundtable pizza where they were presented with their trophy's.
Someone please tell me how to put captions under the pictures.

Trunk or Treat

Brooke (neighbor), Mekai, Katrina (cousin)

Tonight was our ward's Trunk or Treat. Mekai invited a neighbor and her cousins that live by us. We had everyone over at our house for dinner - we had pizza. Then we all went over to the church. They had games set up in the classrooms and then at 7:30 everyone gathered in the parking lot for the Trunk or Treat. All the kids went from car to car until everyone was out of candy - which took about 20 minutes.

6 Hours of Sleep ..............

uninterrupted! The last three nights Kellen has slept from 10 pm to 4 am - of course the first night he did that I kept waking up and checking on him to make sure he was still breathing. He has also started smiling - which we just love. As soon as I capture a smile on film I will post a picture.

Friday - We attended our nieces school Halloween carnival. It was so cold outside - it really is starting to feel like Halloween. It was basically one of those nights where you sacrifice three hours of your life just so your kids can have fun. There was some great costumes though - especially from some of the moms - there was the popular "plastic surgery gone bad" and the "I still think I'm 18" -classic. Okay so I don't think they were meant to be costumes.

Saturday - I drove the three hours up to Lake Shasta with my parents and Kellen to check out a ranch we are renting out for our family reunion for 4th of July (thanks Tracy). Good thing Kellen likes the car because it was a long day driving there and back. I just want to warn anyone who may drive on HWY 50 - beware you may get pulled over by a Park Ranger - yes you read that right. I was going 80 in the fast lane and a Park Ranger pulled me over - my first thought was - is HWY 50 a state park? My second thought was he wanted to warn me that if I was only going to go 80 I might want to get in the slow lane. Well he actually was on a power trip and wanted to give me a hard time and a warning - very funny considering he has no authority to even pull me over or give me a ticket. The only reason I pulled over was I thought I must have been mistaking to think he was a Park Ranger - but his uniform confirmed he was. I was kind of laughing the whole time he was talking with me because I was in such disbelief. I asked him if he could get Yogi bears autograph for me. I had to call Sheldon after it happened - he was mad I didn't get his name and badge number - I wish he was in the car with me.

What happened to his hair?..........

The hair bandit struck about a week ago. One morning we woke up and Kellen's hair was gone - I looked every where for it - he was coughing that morning - maybe it was his hairball. I really thought I was going to find a chunk of hair in his bassinet. Would it be wrong for me to draw some hair on his head?

Kiss is Dissed, The Christian Goes Wild & The Old One (30) Falls Down the Stairs....

...just another night of bachelor. I definitely don't have a favorite - I could really care less about any of them so far. Just the typical drama and hot tub scenes.
Kellen is 5 weeks today - he has grown so much - he actually has clothes that fit now. I will post a new picture tomorrow.
Mekai came home from playing outside yesterday saying that the lead singer of Papa Roach lives on our street - of course she knows who he is because Sheldon is her dad and exposes her to all sorts of music. Mekai was freaking out - she just couldn't believe that she lived so close to a celebrity. It was quite embarrassing and I hope she never runs into him or his family. She said she ran up and touched his garage and I told her to never go on his property again. I thought I could look up the public records to show Mekai that it was probably just a rumor anyways - but I found that he really does live 5 houses down from us.
Mekai is loving school here - she does the safety patrol either before or after school everyday - she works in the cafeteria every once in a while (she gets free lunch on those days) and she is playing the clarinet. I was skeptical about her playing an instrument because of the cost and I wasn't sure if she would stick with it - luckily the school rents them to you for free ( I guess I should say borrow). Okay now that I just made her sound like a total geek. To help redeem her she does play defender on her soccer team.

Webbed Feet, Lost Boob, Human Pretzel..Sweetness

........and that was all on one episode of Bachelor. What the heck - these girls are crazy. There is always the drunk girl and a future call to 911. Every season I say I probably wont watch the next Bachelor and then I get sucked in. The Bachelor does have a hotness factor - and an identical twin - Austin is one lucky city. I can't wait to see which girls turn out to be crazy - do they really want their future husband to choose them because they took off their shirt on the first date - come on. oh yeah - remind me to never roll my eyes - it is so ugly.

Now that Kellen is almost 4 weeks old - I am feeling pretty tired - the lack of sleep is catching up with me. Otherwise I feel pretty good - I feel ready to work out but am a little nervous about it because of the c-section - I know I should take more time to recover. It was depressing to come home from the hospital weighing 5 pounds more than I did going in. Finally after 2 weeks the water I was retaining went away. They say you burn 500 calories a day by breastfeeding but I seem to keep the weight on until the baby is weaned. We will see how long I last - my goal is 4 months.

I'm Back............

Well I am back in the blogging world after a 3 month absence. As you can see we had or baby boy. I went into the hospital on Monday August 27th to be induced - after 20 hours of labor they decided to do an emergency c-section - I just started crying - this was my worse labor nightmare. Kellen Keen McGee was born on Tuesday August 28th at 4:41 am. He weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and was 19 inches long.
Mekai was so excited to finally have the baby arrive - she came to the hospital the morning he was born - she was smiling so much on the way over it made her cheeks hurt - she said they felt like they did right before you ate sour candy. She has been so helpful - she wants to change every diaper and begs to burp him when he is done eating. She wants to hold him every spare moment she has.
I am so in love with Kellen - I forgot how much love a baby can bring into your home. Everything is going great - he is such a good baby so far.

Sweat Shop...........

The last 2 nights after I am done working I have been going to one of my dads sign shops to help out. They got a huge order for some flags for a builder and they need more man power to get it all done. The reason I mention the sweat shop is because it is on the second floor of a warehouse with no air - mind you it's been 105 degrees outside - I swear inside the warehouse it's about 120 degrees. So it's been me, my mom and my sister Dawn Rai up there sewing and sweating like pigs. I drink so much water and don't even have to pee. I better lose 5 pounds with all the sweating I have been doing. This is when I wish we had a pool so I could just come home and jump in to cool off. Good times.

What a Fun Week

Well - Christina and Kristen came to visit Thursday night - too much fun. We ate a lot, laughed a lot and even got some sleeping in. We even got a mystic tan - what a joke - at least we got some good stories from it -and we recommend you don't do it. It was a great girls weekend - Sheldon was in Germany and Mekai stayed with her cousins so we had the house all to ourselves. I was so sad to see them go on Sunday - but hopefully they will be back. Christina - you need to e-mail me some pictures so I can post them.
Monday night we hit the lake again and were able to stay until 9 pm - just when it was getting dark. Mekai did so great on the wake board. We even got her cousin Mason (13) and Bailey (11) to try - of course Mason being the athlete he is got up the first try.
Tuesday I went to my doctors appointment and she said that the ultrasound came back with some concerns on the development of the babies kidneys - they are borderline. So they are going to do another ultrasound in 4 weeks to follow up. Has anyone else experienced this before? I don't know how worried to be - I guess I will wait until we know for sure before I stress about it.

FLE

Okay - FHE has been renamed by Laura to FLE (family lake evening) - we went out on the boat with Laura and Scott last night at 5:30 for FHE. Who new you could get to the lake at 5:30 and still have plenty of time for everyone to have a few turns on the wake board. It was so beautiful and the weather was perfect. I wanted to stay until it got dark - after about 6:30 there were only sail boats on the lake and it was so peaceful. I think we will need to make this a Monday night tradition for the rest of summer. Everyone is invited!

Bye Bye Mercedes.....

.... Hello Tahoe Z71 - we decided it would be more practical if we went down to 2 cars - so we got rid of my Mercedes and are selling Sheldon's truck. We replaced those 2 with a new Tahoe so we still had a vehicle to tow the boat. I was sad for a couple of days but it will be better with the baby coming - the Mercedes didn't exactly have a lot of room for a car seat.
Saturday - we took the boat out to the lake and it wouldn't start - at first we thought it was the battery but it ended up being the starter - Sheldon went out and bought a new starter and replaced it and we were out on the lake around noon. We went with our good friends Laura and Scott and Sheldon's dad and step sister. It was really hot here this weekend so it was nice to go out on the Lake.
Monday - We got up and went to breakfast with Laura and Scott. Later that day we went to my brother Adam's house where the kids went swimming and we had a BBQ - My mom and dad, 2 other brothers and my sister Suni and all their kids came over - we had a full house. Good times.

Last day of school

Today is Mekai's last day of school - ya. I am always excited when she is out of school - no homework or trying to rush home to get her in bed at a decent time. I am so excited to have 3 days off - so of course we will be taking the boat out for the first time this season. I just wish I could wake board - oh well it will still be fun to go out. We have 3 of our nieces staying with us this weekend so they will keep Mekai busy. I want to BBQ but we don't have our backyard done yet or a BBQ which is all essential to a good BBQ.
Here is a picture of Folsom Lake - the temperature is 80 degrees - perfect. I guess I better head to the store with 3 extra mouths to feed.

Sacramento Temple......

It's so great to have the new Sacramento Temple so close by. I was able to go with family to the temple today because my cousin is getting ready to leave on her mission to Argentina. It totally beats driving all the way to Oakland - which is an all day adventure. The thing that is hard for me is to be able to go to the temple and concentrate on the moment versus what work calls I'm missing, etc...
It's definitely nice to be back with family when you have these family events going on - otherwise I would have missed this experience.
A lady from the R.S. stopped by this evening to welcome me to the ward. She asked what my hobbies were - and you know I was thinking what can I say and how will she use this against me in a calling. She also asked the dreaded question of what previous callings I have held - I told her I prefer not to answer. I actually just said I preferred not to have a calling that would have me teaching every Sunday - with the baby coming and Sheldon usually working on Sunday's it would be too hard. We shall see- she said she would mention that to the bishopric.

Sunday

So we went to our new ward for the first time....it's so small. El Dorado Hills use to have only 2 wards and they split it into 4 wards with ours being the smallest. (this would be like 4 wards between Orangecrest and Woodcrest) Hi - we had to actually sit in the pews. We never had so many people talk to us at church before - 80% of the ward came up and introduced themselves to us. So much for flying under the radar. I think they were a little disapointed we didn't have more kids. Can you believe I am the only pregnant person in the ward - they are so excited to have a baby being born into the ward. At least Mekai's primary class is the largest age group and they are mostly girls. Of course Mekai met a friend right away and went to her house directly from church for dinner.

Will I ever be done ..............

with all the unpacking? The first weekend we moved in we were gung ho and accomplished so much. Now that we have enough unpacked to live everyday the other stuff has been pushed to the side. I walk around the house and just see boxes of junk that I dont even know what to do with. I figure I will wait to finish when I am going thru my nesting period.
Poor Sheldon every time he leaves for a few days for work he comes home with more projects to do around the house.
I think someone should come visit me because that would motivate me to finish everything around the house.

24 weeks and counting

Why is it so hard to find pre-natal care here? I called looking for a doctor before I moved up here and it was really hard to find someone taking new patients. I eventually got a call back from one that could squeeze me in. Before the doctor would see me I had to go to a pre-natal class this morning. What the heck - I am 24 weeks and all the other women there were 8 weeks. Well the good thing is this doctor delivers at a hospital about 5 miles from my house.
